Gemma graduated from the University Cardenal Herrera-CEU of Valencia (Spain) in 2003. She completed a two year internship at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) where she also completed a master’s degree and Diploma of Advanced Studies. In 2008, Gemma started a residency in Small Animal Cardiology at the University of Edinburgh Veterinary School. Gemma has also completed externships at Cornell University and Ohio State University in the US. In 2011 Gemma passed the certifying examination of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Companion Animal (ECVIM-CA) becoming a Diplomate and European specialist in Small Animal Cardiology. Following her residency Gemma joined the University of Liverpool Veterinary School as a Clinician-Teacher in Cardiology.
Gemma is interested in all areas of small animal cardiology, with a special interest in arrhythmias and congenital heart diseases.
